weekend fun

I had an interesting weekend. Friday Tommy, Liz and I watched sleepy hollow. And on Saturday we had the costume party. Liz, Christen, and I dressed up as kindergarten daisy scouts.- it was fun. Don and Tommy switched roles  there was a lot of good costumes.
It got a little crazy fun at times.
Sunday I went spelunking with stoner, sarah, gwen, & travis. It was fun as usual. Then we went to ryans to watch a scary movie (the Amityville horror) –it was a pretty good one.

Today Caleb dressed up as a lion and jadyn as a little fairy angel… too cute! They get to have a party at school today. I think I’ll take them out trick-or-treating for the 1st time.

My kids… sometimes I’m just overwhelmed with them… thoughts like are they gonna think I was a terrible mom. Will they turn out Ok? But then I see a ray of light…

Caleb has been doing better at school & his teacher seems to be taking a liking to him! Some of this could possibly be because I bribe him to behave.
(I’ll give him some sort of prize if he gets a good report). – but hey it works!
But other than that, I think he’s finally getting used to being in a social environment. His teacher is treating him special, by giving him more “duties”.
He really can be a good kid as long as he stays occupied.
I really have to think that school is a good thing for him.
Jadyn and him both come home singing songs, and talking about the day.
Times like that make me happy to be a mom.

NASCAR

This weekend don, stoner, Tommy and I. I attended our 1st NASCAR race at the Martinsville Speedway. It was quite an experience & over all it was a good time.

One aspect was that we camped out the night before the race and the ratio of male to female was like 100:1; so needless to say any slightly (or not even) attractive female is like a piece of meat. But it was fun. Don's up for it next year.

And Jeff Gordon WON!! (He's don's favorite driver)

Life is disappointing, people are disappointing.
Why, I don’t know why.
We like to deny it, ignore it cause its such an ugly truth.
We do not like face or admit it at times, even when it’s flat, square in our face.

Disappointment shatters the soul, ruins friends and destroys relationships.

FALL

We had a little camp fire in our back yard last night. It was a beautiful cool clear evening. The klous brothers: Kevin and Stoner, tommy and my friend liz were there and we enjoyed talking and keeping the fire built up. It was really great to just relax and enjoy the autumn weather.

It’s a strange thing when people get so comfortable with eachother that they no longer attempt to impress one another. While it’s so great to be that close, there is a lot of negatives to that. It’s like the ultimate way of knowing you are close and trust and love eachother. Yet it seems to be a downfall of the married life. It can be so much work to keep things fun, exciting and overall not mundane…being married is not for the lazy.
In the end I think that working toward a great relationship and going through all the struggles and trials is worth it

Frustration

Today was full of frustration. I'm busy with school work and trying to get my MOPS fundraiser scheduled.( I've spent over 6 hours on the phone the last two days)
Caleb just does not want to behave himself. He poured water on our laptop.
I really hope our warrantee will cover it. Sometimes I just want to give up on him.. or at least send him somewhere where someone will know what to do with him. I love him so much, why can't he be good? Don and I are so frustrated. it causes us to fight and argue. All i can do is pray and spend more time with the kids. I just hope someday things will get easier.

On June 1, 1834 Daniel Webster wrote this . . .

"I apprehend no danger to our country from a foreign foe . . . Our destruction, should it come at all, will be from another quarter. From the inattention of the people to the concerns of their government, from their carelessness and negligence, I must confess that I do apprehend some danger. I fear that they may place too implicit a confidence in their public servants, and fail properly to scrutinize their conduct; that in this way they may be made the dupes of designing men, and become the instruments of their own undoing. Make them intelligent, and they will be vigilant; give them the means of detecting the wrong, and they will apply the remedy."

This is why I love politics so much. I know it is easy to place too much confidence in our elected officials, but if we do, we could really be the instruments of our own destruction. -ryan knowles

beautiful fall

The weather here is perfect… although we are considered to be in desert like conditions.
School is going well. And the kids are alright at school.
I’m a frustrated with how to deal with Caleb’s behavior.
All I can do is ask God for help and direction.
Aristotle held that happiness is the aim of life,
he believed that the major function of art is to provide human satisfaction.

“True happiness is given to the children of God in their sleep - not in any frantic striving. For the experience of happiness we need mastery of outer reality, which is symbolized in the search and mastery of the inner reality, which is symbolized in contemplation"
German philosopher Arthur Schopenhauer
