Ruts

listen to more messages here

some ideas for getting out of a rut

lesson from –David T. Moore
People find themselves in a rut
When they replace God.
( it’s a control issue – we want to control ourselves and give ourselves security and control ourselves, surrounding and others .
Which leads to unbearable pain… painful relationships & circumstances.
Which leads to temporary fix – something to get the pain off the radar of out hearts and minds for awhile something to distract us. –that causes an obsessive attitude. Living with a blocked perspective.
Those in a RUT find themselves Caught in between the unresolved issues of the Past and the uncertainty of the future.
Btu there is a better way to live rut free..
Admitting that we are powerless in our lives. Out lives become unmanageable.
Admit that there really is a power greater than us.
We have a choice to turn our will and our lives over to the care of GOD.
Search and examine ourselves – being honest with ourselves seeing the character flaws. – rutted in the 7 deadly sins. – find the nature of our wrongs – ask God to remove those issues.
Then get a list of all the people you have wronged and make amends – get rid of the baggage.
The heart can grow bitter and cold with all the issues we can bury.
Maintenance –
Appropriately handle problems – keep a firm grip on the issues that affect you.
None of us ever really arrive at perfection.
1 Corinthians 10
11These things happened to them as examples and were written down as warnings for us, on whom the fulfillment of the ages has come. 12So, if you think you are standing firm, be careful that you don't fall! 13No temptation has seized you except what is common to man. And God is faithful; he will not let you be tempted beyond what you can bear. But when you are tempted, he will also provide a way out so that you can stand up under it.

Be careful – no one is immune.
Be confident – God will always be there to get you through it.
NO one can fix the past – we must not focus on what should have could have been – we have to work with what we have here & now –TODAY.
Don’t be addicted to fixing the problem – but get beyond it – aim for the target.
This is a daily deal – deal with the issues you have today – live freely in the moment.
Matthew 6:34 (New International Version)
34Therefore do not worry about tomorrow, for tomorrow will worry about itself. Each day has enough trouble of its own.
Maturity – growing stronger, personal growth. Deeper relationship with GOD.
Finding and following Gods will for you today
Emotional stability –
Relational stability – being gracious and forgiving
Colossians 3: 15 Let the peace of Christ rule in your hearts, since as members of one body you were called to peace. And be thankful. 16Let the word of Christ dwell in you richly as you teach and admonish one another with all wisdom, and as you sing psalms, hymns and spiritual songs with gratitude in your hearts to God. 17And whatever you do, whether in word or deed, do it all in the name of the Lord Jesus, giving thanks to God the Father through him.
Pray – talk to God.
Confess Sin , get rid of selfish motives, have clean motives
Prayer, mediation ( listen)

giving time

“It is nobler to give yourself completely to one individual than to labor diligently for the salvation of the masses”

I take this to mean I could devote endless time to many people out there – but I still wouldn’t have a deep meaningful relationship with the people who mean the most in my life. It can take more character more humility, courage, and strength to rebuild that one relationship than it would to continue putting all those hours for different people and causes.

bitter forgiveness

I enjoy the Dixie Chicks' music yet while I respect their political stands-
I do not agree with them – but still they make great music.

-I think we all feel like this at times…

Forgive, sounds good.
Forget, I'm not sure I could.
They say time heals everything,
But I'm still waiting

I'm through, with doubt,
There's nothing left for me to figure out,
I've paid a price, and i'll keep paying

I'm not ready to make nice,
I'm not ready to back down,
I'm still mad as hell
And I don't have time
To go round and round and round
It's too late to make it right
I probably wouldn't if I could
Cause I'm mad as hell
Can't bring myself to do what it is
You think I should

I know you said
Why can't you just get over it,
It turned my whole world around
and i kind of like it

I made by bed, and I sleep like a baby,
With no regrets and I don't mind saying,
It's a sad sad story
That a mother will teach her daughter
that she ought to hate a perfect stranger.
And how in the world
Can the words that I said
Send somebody so over the edge
That they'd write me a letter
Saying that I better shut up and sing
Or my life will be over

I'm not ready to make nice,
I'm not ready to back down,
I'm still mad as hell
And I don't have time
To go round and round and round
It's too late to make it right
I probably wouldn't if I could
Cause I'm mad as hell
Can't bring myself to do what it is
You think I should

I'm not ready to make nice,
I'm not ready to back down,
I'm still mad as hell
And I don't have time
To go round and round and round
It's too late to make it right
I probably wouldn't if I could
Cause I'm mad as hell
Can't bring myself to do what it is
You think I should

Forgive, sounds good.
Forget, I'm not sure I could.
They say time heals everything,
But I'm still waiting

Bitter End
The words that you said
They still ring in my head
Don't you know
We say goodbye
With a tear in our eye
Oh, where'd you go

It's alright you can sleep tonight
Knowing you'll always live on in a song

Farewell to old friends
Let's raise a glass to the bitter end
Farewell to old friends
Will you be the same when we see you again

Remember the days
When we'd laugh as you played
Who would have known
The water would come and just take you away
Oh, where'd you go

It's not alright
I can't sleep tonight
Knowing you should have played on
On and on

Farewell to old friends
Let's raise a glass to the bitter end
Farewell to old friends
Will you forgive me when I see you again

You had a good time
Drinking all of our wine
After the show
We all rode the wave
Of that crazy parade
Oh, where'd you go
What happened to
The ones we knew
As long as I'm the shiniest star
Oh, there you are

Farewell to old friends
Let's raise a glass to the bitter end
Farewell to old friends
We'll still be here when you come round again

KY trip

Don, me & the kids took short 2-day trip to Lovely, KY this weekend. It was a pleasant nice trip – the kids did well and didn’t complain too much on the 6-hour drive. Saturday, Don helped his uncle work on His grandparent’s house – building a new wash room. The kids enjoyed visiting Don’s Aunt’s house where she raises Poodles and several other kinds of dogs. The kids and I went for a short swim and then we went out to a cookout and campfire. Caleb ran around with 10-year-old cousin Joey the entire weekend. Don, Caleb & I went on a three hour 4-wheeler ride up in the mountains and in the creeks till dark. Then we came back for more campfire and marshmallows. Saturday was a Fun but long day. We drove back on Sunday after spending time visiting with the family some more. Everyone is very nice out there –very laid back – but good workers and big on family- it really is a different world- but I could see myself living there. ( but Don’t tell Don I said that) I can’t let him spend too much time out there – or his Papaw and Uncles will convince him to move there.

Integrity

“Integrity includes but goes beyond honesty. Honestly is telling the truth- in other words, conforming our words to reality. Integrity is conforming reality to our words – in other words, keeping promises and fulfilling expectations. This requites an integrated character, a oneness, primarily with self but also with life.”
